CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE

The choice to build a custom home is a big decision. We want to make sure that when you are ready to take the step to commit to building your dream home, you know exactly what to expect during every phase.  When you choose to build with Michael's Homes, you’re partnering with a family-owned company of experienced home builders. We’ve spent years perfecting a unique home-building process that’s precise from start to finish.  We want to make your entire experience as simple, enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

 1.  explore, design, customize & finalize

In the beginning, we will meet to discuss and explore all of your home building options. We work together with you to turn your dreams and vision into reality. During this step we plan your project, work within your budget, and come to an agreement on building terms and pricing.  

2.  contract meeting

Once we have a plan, it is time to finalize the paperwork and documents. You will be presented with a purchase agreement and various documents that constitute the legal understanding regarding the purchase and building of your new home.

3.  pre-construction & lot inspection

Now that we have a plan and the documents are signed, we will proceed with the pre-building process. This includes a thorough home-site inspection.  It also includes the exciting process of home-detail planning. This is where you pick and choose the details of your home from the cabinetry to the flooring and everything in between. The last part of the pre-construction step is the closing of your construction loan.

4.  construction & building

From the actual ground breaking to the move-in day, this is where your home will take shape. This is the longest step of the process and proceeds as follows:
    • Home-site preparation and excavation
    • Foundation
    • Framing and roof
    • Rough plumbing, electrical, heating & cooling
    • Insulation and drywall
    • Carpentry, painting and staining
    • Flooring and finishing touches
    • Inspection and new home orientation  

5.  final inspection & move in

This is the moment you’ve been waiting for—it’s time to take the keys to your dream home and plan your housewarming party. Moving into a home built just for you is pretty exciting, and we want to make sure everything is perfect.  That’s why prior to your move-in date, together we will do a final home inspection and orientation.  We want to make sure that you understand all of the features and functions of your new home.  It is at this time that we will present you with all of your warranty documents.  Whether you’re a first time homeowner or a seasoned one, you’ll be glad to know your Michael’s Homes warranty coverage and support is part of our long-term commitment to customer satisfaction.
